Abstract

Latar Belakang: Pertumbuhan vertikal maksila menjadi salah satu faktor yang mempengaruhi estetika wajah. Pertumbuhan tersebut menyebabkan perubahan dimensi vertikal maksila saat pubertas yang dipengaruhi oleh hormon. Perubahan dimensi vertikal mempengaruhi tipe proporsi wajah (hiperdivergen, normodivergen, dan hipodivergen) dikarenakan terdapat pertumbuhan jaringan keras dan lunak. Pengetahuan mengenai hubungan antara pertumbuhan vertikal maksila saat pubertas dan proporsi wajah dapat meningkatkan pemanfaatan potensi pertumbuhan untuk perbaikan tulang. Tujuan: Untuk mengetahui hubungan antara pertumbuhan vertikal maksila saat usia pubertas terhadap proporsi wajah pasien ortodonti di Laboratorium FKG UB. Metode: Penelitian ini berupa penelitian deskriptif yang diolah dengan uji statistik  analitik korelatif Spearman menggunakan 27 sefalogram lateral pasien usia 10 – 13 tahun di Laboratorium FKG UB. Hasil: Analisis data korelasi Spearman menunjukkan tidak terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara pertumbuhan vertikal maksila pada masa pubertas dan proporsi wajah namun terdapat hubungan yang signifikan cukup kuat antara usia dan proporsi wajah. Kesimpulan: Tidak terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara pertumbuhan vertikal maksila pada masa pubertas terhadap proporsi wajah pasien ortodonti usia 10 – 13 tahun di Laboratorium FKG UB.
