PERBEDAAN POLA RUGA PALATAL PADA MAHASISWA KEDOKTERAN GIGI UNIVERSITAS AIRLANGGA

Palatal rugoscopy merujuk pada studi tentang identifikasi seseorang melalui ruga palatal. Letak ruga
palatal sangat ideal karena terlindungi dari cedera eksternal dan internal. Ruga palatal dapat menjadi
pendukung bukti pada identifikasi gigi forensik, utamanya pada kasus dengan rahang edentulous. Tujuan:
mengetahui apakah terdapat perbedaan pola ruga palatal pada mahasiswa Kedokteran Gigi Universitas
Airlangga. Metode: sampel terdiri dari 64 mahasiswa Kedokteran Gigi Universitas Airlangga angkatan 2010-
2012 yang terbagi rata pria dan wanita. Pencetakan rahang atas menggunakan bahan cetak irreversible
hydrocolloid / alginate dan hasil cetakkannya diisi dengan bahan dental stone tipe III. Hasil cetakan rahang
atas diamati pola ruga palatalnya dengan bantuan pensil, jangka, penggaris, dan kaca pembesar untuk
dianalisa sesuai dengan klasifikasi Thomas dan Kotze (1983). Klasifikasi stersebut meliputi panjang, bentuk,
dan unifikasi dari ruga palatal. Hasil: hasil uji independent t-test antara jenis kelamin terhadap ruga primer
(5-10 cm) (p-value 0.89). Hasil uji Mann-Whitney antara jenis kelamin terhadap ruga primer (>10 cm), ruga
sekunder, dan ruga fragmentaris dengan p-value masing-masing 0.142, 0.402, 0.383. Hasil uji Chi Square
antara jenis kelamin dengan bentuk ruga palatal (p-value 0.754). Hasil uji Chi Square antara jenis kelamin
terhadap unifikasi ruga palatal (p-value 0.291). Kesimpulan: tidak terdapat perbedaan pola ruga palatal
berdasarkan jenis kelamin pada mahasiswa Kedokteran Gigi Universitas Airlangga, baik panjang, bentuk,
maupun unifikasi ruga palatal karena minimnya variasi genetik sehingga tidak dapat dijadikan sebagai sarana
determinasi jenis kelamin di Fakultas Kedokteran Gigi Universitas Airlangga.
