The Influence of the Work Position of Professional Students on the Occurrence of Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) While Carrying Out Treatment at Universitas Brawijaya Hospital

ABSTRACT
Background: When performing treatment, dentists require accuracy in a relatively small area of treatment, namely the mouth area. Musculoskeletal disorders often occur due to the position of the body when working is less ergonomic and occurs for a long time and repeatedly. Dental profession students work with a static and rigid body position when performing treatment at the dental unit. Purpose: This study aims to determine the effect of work position on professional students on the occurrence of musculoskeletal disorders during treatment at the Brawijaya University Hospital. Method: This research is an observational analytic study with a cross sectional study approach using NBM, TVP and REBA tables which was conducted on 73 professional students. In the NBM table, the results of NBM data show that all respondents fall into the low MSDs complaint criteria. Result: For TVP data, it was obtained that no respondent was included in the insufficient criteria, as many as 6 respondents (8.2%) were included in the sufficient criteria, as many as 57 respondents (78.1%) were included in the good criteria and as many as 10 respondents (13.7%) were included in the criteria, very good criteria. Meanwhile, for REBA, 10 respondents (13.7%) were included in the ignored criteria, as many as 20 respondents (27.4%) were included in the low risk criteria, as many as 40 respondents (54.8%) were included in the medium risk criteria, as many as 3 respondents were included in the high risk criteria and none of the respondents fall into the very high risk criteria. Conclusion: This means that there is a relationship between the work positions of both TVP and REBA on MSDs complaints using the NBM score. And it can be concluded that the higher the risk of REBA and TVP, the MSDs complaint score will also be higher
